excellent 4 track vinyl with fantastic deep house. it gets started with >spring loop<, a track that looks to its name both for feeling and production sense. of course that sensuous vocal sample that gets drawn through it wouldnt do the job on its own, but rau knows that too and surrounds it with a warm, humid bassline and his always changing and snapping drums to keep it in the pocket for the whole 5 minutes. even though the groove on the a1 is already heavy for him, he goes deeper yet with >swearing (vinyl version)< that jamaican vocal is something so classic that we wont spoil it here, but the pumping house beat and piano stabs he winds around it give even more poignancy to the lyrical substance… we are pretty sure that by the time he finally echoes the vocal out late in the track there will be some hands in the air for this one

>hold on< has been given the inimitable touch of deep house master marcus worgull. a classically trained musician like kabuki, he has stripped the track and used jennas vocals stabs to create a exquisite minimal groove to stunning effects. rising drum and bass star eveson has been given >generation x< to remix, and his <ode to a rave generation< is exactly what it is: keeping the haunting synth loop throughout, slowing the track down to finally go back to a rave-friendly 140 bpm with vintage breaks, and making the most of paul st hilaires colourful voice. the result is as awesome as skreams recent >burning up<.

the back on track vinyl collection takes one of the most seminal and classic new york house labels of the late eighties and early nineties and lets the sort after producer nicholas painstakingly update the sound for 2011. this special edition collection is made of three limited edition heavy weight 180 gram vinyls with printed sleeves. each four track ep is individually coloured to make the complete set of three, light blue, orange and dark blue. on each ep there are four nu groove tracks re-edited by nicholas that include vinyl only exclusives. the collection reinterprets classic nu groove artists including bas noir, roqui and n.y house n authority.

marcin czubala has been a busy man of late but the paper work certainly hasnt stopped the creativity flowing. whilst setting up his own imprint >your mamas friend<, for which he produced the first release, he is now back with a very strong ep for mobilee records >just away<. as someone who is always moving forward and looking to expand in new ways, czubala applies the same philosophy to his music production and this release presents a very fresh look on modern house music. >just away< features four tracks, each of which are expertly produced and have their own moment in the night, with much more bass, rawness and energy than his previous releases. whilst the title track warms the floor with drawn out synths and a expectant bassline, >memory lane< is an obvious peak time killer. meanwhile on the flip, >not like this< and >pleasure control< carry a calmer deep house vibe, but still enough of a kick to keep the floor moving. enjoy!

another superb love record filles with trancey atmospheres and epic breaks. this is one that will go off in the club at peak time. the a side is the ultimate banging club record that is both a very uplifting track and also a straight forward steamer. the flipside hot n old is a rather hard katy perry bootleg with a very mysterious intro that will leave you dazzled once the drums kick in. also this side is very atmospheric and trancey again. perfect for the winter, the roaring bass on this is enormous.

pirahnahead and diviniti, these names are synonymous with quality dance music. since 2004s >find a way< they have been two of dance musics most prolific songwriters (and even co-wrote a few songs for les nubians on their 2011 full length >nu revolution<). with each release they have provided powerful production, smooth vocals, angelic harmony, and overall, musical excellence. this time, the super collaborators return to the foreground with one of the best tracks of 2011, >(just like)a dream<. as the sixth release from whasdat music, this soothing track has been supported by the likes of vinny da vinci, ian friday, paris cesvette and neil pierce as well as phil asher (who included it on soul heavens miami sampler mix). also, joining in as remixers are charles webster and jose carretas. both have previously collaborated with pirahnahead & diviniti, topping charts on traxsource.com. returning to the kitchen after an over extended jaunt in the bathroom, the sound diggers grant us with another slap happy handful of flavor with their new piece entitled >dont flap just jack<. here at flapjack we do encourage everyone to wash their hands before returning from the bathroom to the decks. with the nasty low down n dirty grooves that are all over this ep, i am not so sure the sound diggers washed up very well, or at all. as we say in the business, when you get dirt in your salad, eh, its just a lil flava.

remerc is no new face to the scene. he has been active for quite some time in the german techno scene and has recently remixed butchs track >muskatnuss< on the trapez ltd 100 anniversary compilation. he had his breakthrough in 2010 with the track >tiny calf< which ended up on the cocoon compilation >party animals< mixed by marco carola and nick curly. remerc opens his release with >ruhewolf<, a restless funkedelic rocker with a beat that juggles elements in a loose and totally cool way. the track is spiced up with elements of surreal bliss and could go on forever were there not the limitations of the vinyl. on the flipside we find an hanne & lore remix that tightens and fattens up the beat and pimps up the basslines. adding some twisted sounds ... making it a clubber par excellence. >just a bards tale< is a unique remerc track and stands out from all the productions he has done so far. here new wave coloured edgy vocals meet a post-detroit string-chord arrangement. sounds adventurous and daring? well it is to some degree... but recall >no more words< by carl craig from 1991 but executed in a dead modern way.
